The Joe and Sara Brager Scholarship

The Calgary Stampede Foundation provides the Joe and Sara Brager Scholoarship to a student from the Young Canadians program on an annual basis. Funding for this scholarship was generously donated and established by Joe and Sara Brager.  Joe was a volunteer on the Grandstand Attractions Committee for twenty five years.  After retiring from the committee in 2000, Joe was awarded the distinction of Calgary Stampede Volunteer Honorary Life Director.   As a stalwart supporter of the Young Canadians School of Performing Arts, watching the students develop their talents as they have come and gone over the years has been one of Joe’s greatest pleasures, and he considered the Young Canadians to be one of the loves of his life.  Joe's memory lives on through this annual $2,000 scholarship.

This program is open to students of the Young Canadian School of Performing Arts in order that they may further their education.  Applicants must be sixteen years of age or older and must have completed at least two full years of study with the Young Canadians School of Performing Arts and have appeared in two Grandstand shows.

The Brager Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in or planning to attend an approved Post Secondary Institution.

The winner is announced at the Sunday afternoon performance of the Spring Show each year.
